Nope... the bread crumbs were used to coat and seasoned the seared duck and goose breast fillets.  Yummy.... 

How about that teamwork?! Kinda reminds me of ncka. Great video, that must have been a RUSH! We ( not I) have got a few epic threshers under our belt. I landed one off of Pacifica pear one time, it had a ****load of line and hooks tangled on it, but it still didnt get me a vacation in Mexico. JTF, you got the record big fish for ncka in the thresher dept, dont you?

I just read through this thread, thought I might comment on some questions:  I think most of the seasoned guys use 4-5 sticks... Yes even in chest to head high baja swell, with overhead sneakers.   I can stow 7-8ft sticks in my hull, but prefer to loose tether to my kayak in their rod holders. I have come in on steep surf, ditched my kayak, and my rods just come out of ther flush mounts if my kayak turned over as it "ghost ride" to shore.  I have also tumbled with the same results...  I fear damage stuffing them into the hull to guides etc, as other guys with different brands of kayaks have said the same thing. 

For inshore I carry:

1 sabiki bait stick
2 live bait rods
1 surface Iron jig stick
1 YOYO stick

Btw, many guys launch other places than LJ, in North county, OB, and imperial beach, all with heart pounding surf.   I'd be launching those places too, they just don't have the Canyons La Jolla has... tough to beat la jolla with the fishery it has, and secondary a mostly easy launch.

I just got off the phone with Chris "holy mackerel" from San Diego.  We were talking about a few things and we got on the subject of Thresher Sharks.  He told me about his latest one he caught which was posted on the BWE site.  Chris thought a link was already posted here somewhere.  If so, I must have missed it.  I just discovered it.... awesome report and pics.

I heard someone on the video say something about a "new kayak record". I think I also noticed a rod handoff, which I think would invalidate a record if there were a potential. Anyone know off hand what the rules are?

I shot that video a couple weeks before my hookup, any mention of the record was tongue n cheek, levity for the brutal fight, I know all those guys, I dont think anyone had really thought it was a record.  It was #150 weighed at a scale at a landing.  Nice fish, they are brutal to bring up... 

Actually, the kayak record is purportedly

The fish weighed in at 256lbs. and 10ft.10in on a physicians scale.
