I'm starting over with multiple plano clear box system.

My question is how are those of you using a similar system categorizing it?

I could see salt/fresh but are there cross-over species that bite on similar stuff?

small lead in one of it's own, hooks, etc?

I'm new to kayak/Nor-Cal species and fishing, so anything will be helpful.

Thanks,

Mark

For Ling/Rock/Butt/Greenling/Cab/WSB all will bite a shad head jig (usually 3oz to 8oz) with a 6-9" swimbait on a farallon feather rig (I just cut one of the hooks off).

I usually just bring four pre-rigged of these with four extra swimbait. It fills up just one plano box. That one box is my all-purpose box.

The other box will have some extra stuff like if I'm fishing solely for rockfish (farallon rig with both feather hooks), a halibut trap rig (black belt 831), some 4-8oz weights, some banana weights, a mooching rig. I only bring it if I plan to target halibut  specifically.
Thresher in avatar and Soupfin Shark in signature both caught and pic taken by me.

I use a 3600 for my salmon gear - apex/FBR/pro-trolls and leaders, a 3630 for my bottom fish gear, and then a smaller flambeau with some swim baits/hair raisers/minnows for stripers. I just grab what boxes I need for that day -- it's usually just one, but sometimes there's opportunities for overlap.
Just keep the boxed filled between trips to allow for a full day of fishing with some lost gear and you'll be set.

I'll usually also have some stuff pre-stashed in my PFD pockets and in the boat storage pockets before I get on the water so the first change-up is at hand. I rarely end up reaching back into the crate for a box unless I'm snagging up a lot.

Cheers,
Brad

I use the 3700 it holds 3 of the smaller boxes I have 9 that I carry in  the car with various tackle to handle anything from trout to salmon, just pull the 3 that best suit my target , but all of them have the basics like swivels, duo snaps, FF fuses, small items you never know when you'll need..... mostly from trial and (oh shit I needed that) error.
