A railroad trestle burned today at the American River in Sacramento.
It may not be a good place to launch a kayak for a while:

That fire does not look like a good thing.

Maybe Al (Alfredo) or James (KayakJames) can clarify this, but I think James hooked up in that area last fall with an awesome salmon?  There are several trestles in the area but there was only one that I remember having multiple trains cross.

It is the one right next to the Capitol City Freeway.
The tressle goes right by Costco and REI.
Once the fire is out it will definitely make for quiter fishing this week.
Travis and I anchored there and about every 15 minutes I had to plug my ears.

I agree, it does not look like the same bridge but it did have a lot of traffic on it which made me think it could have been the same.

As far as the noise from the passing trains, it might help to stimulate the fish into a biting frenzy.  It seemed to work for James on an otherwise sloww season last year.

Wonder how all the creosote and other preservatives in the wood will effect the fish downstream?
