I live on the Delta close by. Launch at Sugar Barge. I think it's $15.00 mellow launch and nice people. It's all ways windy but there are islands to hide behind. You'll get tide movement but it's not bad. Look on google earth. There's a yak tourney there on Saturday. Good Luck
I'm thinking fishing that area Saturday. Wondering if you guys around. :smt002
Decided against Franks Tract due to the winds.  Will go to Locke and hit the sloughs there.  Hopefully that'll give us some protection from the winds.

Is this boat tourney on 10/1? That's also early goose opener I'm curious how that may affect the geese flying around down that way. I have heard that tourney boats are sometimes good for the ducks cause they get them up and moving I wonder if the same would go for geese or they may like to just get up and leave the area altogether. Maybe our resident expert rich can chime in here please? Might be worth using to our advantage

What time are you guys thinking of launching? Care for a little more company? I was thinking about driving up and fishing myself.

They are your friend. The geese will leave roost at 7:30ish and head for fields. They will stay there until around noon. Some geese will stay on the water though...not many.
Once back on the water, they will go to isolated coves with decent visibility. You can cluck and hum once in a while, if geese are around, they will at least vocalize a few honks. Zero in and flush them up!
The geese want away from the boats, often times, they go into big water where they are more or less left alone if the shoreline gets too busy with bass boats. You can try sneaking up on those, but best way is a spread of floaters. When they get up call until you puke. Gotta get them coming/attention. Once they turn to you, ease up a bit. It's early season, they are not call shy yet ;)
When you set up this open water spread, think of the wind. Wind carries your calls, or knocks them dead. Birds are lazy this time of year, don't want to fly against a wind too far if it is getting it. Set up at 10 or 2, depending on the geography of the area and trees, HOUSES lol.

Have one opening for our high mountain lake hunt this weekend, I posted in early goose. Kayak jack would like to carpool. I have three lakes we will be hunting, and I have perfect set ups for two of the three, and one other lake after we chase all of them there, that we will figure out at that time.
Due to medical, I think this is my last hunt of the season. Plus, my buddy is gettin hitched at the campfire before bang time! Gonna be a dang good time!
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.
