After seeing the sabre post in classifieds I went to my Big 5 to see what was in the racks.......naturally there was nothing there.  Salvaged my lunch by swinging by Ly's to make a little pre-sale list of junk to spend more money on.  Walked out with a pair of daiwa line counters (accudepth 17's,49.99ea).  They're about the size of an abu 5500, sweet little reel, might have to walk the darkside and load them with spectra :smt089

Just a heads up, pretty much everything is on sale, tons of salmon gear, 2 for 1 diamond jigs and a ton of Kudako Megabaits on the wall.

I don't think I'm gonna have a choice in the matter.  Max line capacity's gonna be 290yds of 10 lb.  Probably gonna have to go 6 lb dia spectra to get enough on there if I wanna troll deep.  Plus I'm changing the game plan and running my flasher off the DR ball with bait hood attached to mainlines via the highest quality ball bearing swivels available. My big fear is gettin this crap tangled.  If it does I'll never use it again =)

I'm running typical DR noodle rods, hoping there's gonna be enough play in the rod to compensate for the no stretch factor.  You guys think I should run a topshot for the extra sponge?  Keep in mind this will be off a boat.

Not if your drags are good sounds like a great set-up

No use for sensitivity in trolling.....its all line capacity.  After the bill for spooling both reels I'm begining to remember why I'm not a fan  :smt009  Believe me it won't be an new trend for me brother.

I think you get to keep that on for quite a while tho.  maybe at some point you can get it reversed on the spool?

I wonder tho, it doesn't suffer UV damage, but it's got to get the usual micro nicks from bumping debris in the water,
the side of the boat here and there, etc.

Well, you should try it for bottom fishing while you have it on.

what was the bill and what lb test did you get?

Like 45 bucks for both reels 8dia/30 lb, about 300 yards ea, spooled myself. I'm gonna be pissed if a furbag grabs my fish and spools me.

Furbags don't like spectra... :-)
