Got to Benecia by the pier about 630am, found my spot which I was told was a very snaggy area since Barge infront of me. I decided to stay there and give it a whirl. Was a bit windy and chilly and people started piling in at about 730-8am. First salmon caught was a big one at about 10am. I kept tossing my chartreuse spinner lure and the as soon as it hit the surface...fish on!! I set the hook, made sure my drag was slightly loose and played with this guy, I got him close to the rocks and then all of a sudden my reel screamed as he went back out. My buddy grabs his net and folks near are hollering "keep your rod tip up!! Oh wait, she knows what she's doin!" And then my buddy grabs his net and other folks nearby holler "that Nets too small! Someone get her a bigger net!" After playing with the fish I bring him close to my buddy who scoops him up in his net! I'm shaking with excitement and I run up to a park bench to take him out and people are givin me high fives! DFG came by and weighed him at 8.5 lbs, not a big hog but it's chrome!

There was about 50 or so other folks fishing along the rocks with us, and before I left there were two other salmon caught. They are definitely here.

Wow, sweet, I fish right on the low flat rock next to that spot before the bathroom next to Dan.  That is a great day for you. Congratulations... It's a long wait for most.  Boom 1st visit fillets!  Waiting for a windless kayak day.  Hopefully not too long.

The folks there have good intentions, but every time someone hooks up then the back seat fishermans show up.im thinking"man let the person fish",sorta that "too many chef ruins the pot"
I'm thinking ,do they think that it's the individual's first time fishing?
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Congrats on the chrome!

One of friends was at Crockett this morning and caught a salmon from the shore, too.

Congrats!  That's very cool!  I fished the jetty of Santa Cruz hard for two years, plenty of hookups, but never land one.

Nice brite fish, that barge area can be tough to fish.  Have the sea lions been around, I've been fishing Dillon point a lot, seals cruise by and leave, they must be finding fish somewhere
