My boss and I are heading to headwaters tomorrow so he can get a kayak. We are bringing my kayak along and plan on hitting some spots on the way back but dont know where to fish. I would love to fish for either bass or stripers and would appreciate any tips/general locations. We will be driving down highway 12 through the delta so anywhere along there should be good. Thanks.

Sorry no one gave you any information here so I will. If you are searching off of Highway 12 go to Terminous "Tower park" Its where the large bridge is west of Highway 5. Fish the docks for bass and under the bridge and around there for Striped bass. Cast lipless crank baits or bait fish with small bluegills for the stripers and standard bass rigs for bass. Good luck

Thanks. We ended up just driving to Napa where I knew where to fish and we did okay. Big crowd for the sale out at headwaters this morning but we got the exact boat we wanted.

If you like fishing for stripers now is about a good time to fish Sherman Island area. I like to launch at Sherman Island and go to Sacramento Pt. Look on a map. There are 3 Islands west of the launch, its a large flat. When fishing a high tide the fish will be up against the tulle's. I use a lipless crank bait.  This area is south of the Rio Vista about 2 or 3 miles on the west side of the highway 160.

There is also Tiki and Turner cut on the San Joaquin side. We fished Mildred tonight for a ton of shaker stripers and some respectable lmb. Another is Wimpy's or Pirate's Lair. Pirates is on the delta loop off hwy 12. Tons of great fishing there. If you got kids, pm me and i will hook you up with some panfish hot spots!
