I've decided to get a Wilderness Thresher 140. It has the Rod pod type hatch. It has slidetrax on both sides and a short one on the center hatch. I expect it will mostly be used for ocean fishing. While fishing from my Tarpon 120 I never found a Rod holder that suited me. I tucked the Rod under my leg and used different things to rest the Rod on for height and to keep it from sliding back when moving. I found that this won't work well in the Thresher. The center hatch is in the way of tucking the Rod under my leg. I would like to come up with a solution that will allow me to have the same ease of setting the hook. With the Rod tucked under my leg I can simply lift and set the hook. Most Rod holders seem to need the extra step of removing the Rod with a forward motion before lifting to set the hook.

I'm curious how others with Rod pod style kayaks are rigging for Rod holders.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan
