Shasta Lake 411

So when does trout fishing pickup on the lake? Me and a few others are contemplating a boat in camping session. At this point it sounds like non yak. Dates not set yet.

Fall
Its hot as Hell out there. Once the temps start dropping fishing normally improves.

Once the lake turns over. Mid November or so depending on fall weather.

I don't fish it in the summer, but the trout bite is solid right now, downriggers at 60', fat fish but they do have copepods.  I wait until the lake turns over in the fall. October/November are a great time to be out there, everything goes on a shad slaughter to fatten up for the winter.
