I hit the upper Russian this morning at about 06:30 with my trout rod and a spin'n-glow. I was working my way back to up the river toward my truck and thought I'd stop and talk to a couple of local old fishermen. We had the same report, no hook-ups.

Then he said, "where you're standing, a fish boiled about five minutes ago". I started throwing my spin'n-glow and remembered I had to get off the river early due to a meeting at 1100. The next thing I know....BAM! I get a hook-up....FISH ON! He fought for about 10 minutes as he strained the drag on my Shimano reel with 10 lbs test as he shook his head from side to side. I finally landed the 30 1/2 inch hatchery buck and bonked him on the head about 50 times to make sure he knew who was boss.

Aahhhh....the joy of fishing!

Sweet Mahi. Is that a kayak over your left sholder in the top pic. Let us know what was in his belly. The fish not the kayaker.

It was a drift boat in the background and I didn't look in the belly. Thinking back, I guess I should have opened the belly. I did fillet him on the counter in the kitchen and shot his manhood all over one of my wifes magazines. Oops!

CHEERS!

The Mooch is missing out on one of the best Steelhead Years in a long Time.
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.
