Did I get it right?

I use the fish ID chart to figure out what I've caught. A couple I caught looked like they were on the DNC list. Did I get it right?

I don't know about this one but I thought it was interesting. I guess it thought it would take my lure while it already had its mouth full.

Thats rosie rockfish legal to keep but really small seems like you fishing deep.

Did you use a descender?  If you did then yes, you got it right.

Like Darius said, the rosies are legal to keep. Too cute to eat though.
BTW, those cucumber things don't make great bait.

About 100 feet. Is that considered deep?

The first was canary. The second was yellow eye. And 100 ft is deep you need descender when fishing that depth.

If you're not sure then rub its chin. If it has a smooth chin, let it go.

For some reason I guessed the other way around. I have decenders but have not learned to used them yet. Both fish swam away though.

The one with the white stripe and white tipped fins appears to be a juvenile Vermillion or juvenile Yelloweye. I don't think the eye is as bright yellow as a yelloweye.  Spotted one is either a starry or rosy. First one is canary.

Descenders should definitely be used at 100ft. Barotrauma is a real thing.

My descender consists of a barbless iron and a rubberband that I leave on at the split ring. I use the rubberband to invert the hook and use that to descend the fish. I also use it to catch the fish.
