Since I do way more reading about fishing then actually fishing, I haven't produced an adequate picture for my avatar.  So, I'd thought I'd use the picture of my new pup!  Actually, he's not a pup, but a 2 1/2 year old lab/retriever mix.  Mellow, trained (by inmates in the San Quentin "Pen Pals" program) and hopefully ready to fish!  Oh yeah, we got him at the pound (Marin Humane Society)!  Very lucky.

Papa Bill will know for sure, but it's likely due to the file being too big. An easy fix is to open the picture in MSPaint, click image, then select Stretch/skew. Next change the stretch from 100% to 50%. Save the picture as a new name so the original picture doesn't change. If that works, you're all good. If it doesn't work, repeat the process with the new picture. Eventually the file size will get small enough to work as your avatar.

That's a nice looking dog!  A couple of years ago, I saw a lab/retriever mix being used in the guide dogs for the blind program.  Supposed to be a smart dog with great temperament.

Thanks guys.  So far so good, although my wife and son are convinced he can't swim!  He jumped off a dock into the San Rafael Canal then flailed around - my wife had to drag up onto the dock.  I think he just freaked about getting back on the dock.  There's no way a retriever/lab can't swim, right??

He can swim...he just needs a little practice.  Take him to a place with a gradual drop -off. and walk him out.  Once he learns, you wont be able to keep him dry.

I'm going to take him down to the beach at the Brickyard this weekend @ high tide and work him out.  Maybe even throw out a line and see if something sticks.  Will report back...
