I've done that with several different boats and have also been complacent and eaten beach.

There's nothing like the taste of fresh beach!
I don't like stuff that sucks.

I second just putting the rods bungied down in the paddle holder on side if landing seems suspect. I fished for a while with a pescador 120 which is pretty much a older tarpon and that was fine. With a buddy it is easy to access the front hatch on any yak they can help you get stuff out of your hatch and visa versa.

An older model eddy line 14 has a rod pod center storage option. Way nice kayak, stable, fast.

Trident ultra 4.3 also has center storage options. Mine seems to be a pretty wet ride though. But stable when it's that low in the water

Highly recommend the T-13 and T-15.  I used an original model T-15 solely for 4-5 years and it was great for surf launching/landing with the internal storage and sonar shield.

Because I care ... I wouldn't touch Kayak Trinidad with a 10 foot pole.

Looking at the picture I'd have to say I'm trying to learn how to be safer launching and landing, not kill myself.  :smt044
Not going to happen.

I don't know what makes the difference, second swell maybe? I got more comfortable as time went by.

Drifting in mixed swell conditions were always the worst.  My T160 had a tendency to buck kinda randomly when hit with a criss swell.  I remember a few days in particular where i had to stay on alert the whole trip, legs dangled over the side the whole trip to keep balanced.

As far as stowing goes...I've seen people flip in ankle slippers, breaking waves wash gear off decks, reels get packed with sand etc.

No thanks, it's not convenient but I'll stow even in the calmest of landings.
