On the water at 7:10, off around 9:30. Couldn't ask for better weather today. Nice day to be on the water. The water is still a little brown, but not as bad as earlier in the week. The usual delta green water is starting to come back.

I fished and paddled my way down Railroad slough...about a mile to the end. Tried lots of different color plastics and didn't get a bite. So I decided to just take it easy and soak up the beautiful day.

Saw lots of water fowl. The local river otter family (6) was out for a cruise. I paddled up to get a picture and they all vanished, except one. He stayed close hissing, snorting and grunting at me until I moved on. Other than the otters, I had the slough to myself. No boats nearby.

Back I the ramp I chatted with some other boaters. They were headed out to Snodgrass and the Moke for stripers. There were also two other boats in the Delta Cut channel striper fishing

No fish love for me, but I will still score it as a great day to be on the water. :smt001

Random pics:

Morning at the ramp

Someone had a bad day! This boat wasn't here last fall. It's close to the ramp.

Is that a boat or a swamp buggy?

I'd bet it was a boat on a trailer. Somebody had a real bad day.

Sorry you didn't have any luck fishing, but thanks a bunch for sharing your nature day on the water, Al. That's my kind of paddle! I particularly liked your ramp picture--beautiful! I haven't paddled that area in several years...guess it's time to go back.

I was a little too early for the bass. They should be stirring around soon.
Soaking bait on Snodgrass might be a good bet. Hope you do well Don.

Hey Al look for some skinny water in the afternoon and throw a 7 inch Senko I believe you will find some bass. The water is still a little cold. But I know these fish are ready to go. I just did a 80 mile stretch Thur the delta on Friday and found fish all were caugth in shallow water in the afternoon. I did notice a lot of boats are being sunk all over the delta.

Made it out there today, introduce my old Paramedic partner to kayak fishing. Made a run to the mouth of Lost slough, 37' hole, marks everywhere, LOCK JAW CITY :smt013, Fly fishermen working chartruse fly streamers picking up fish, so they say. Word on the slough was find the clear water, boats picking up
" Chuncky " bass on rainbow trout patternish swim baits. I was midday low tide, won't do that again.

Had to hurry in towards the end of my day and spooked alot of bass, in the shallows hanging on the surface

Fact is , lots of fish out there,...I'll be back...

found a dock with a cool hamock set up :smt003...Danglin

I can't wait for the cheese to show up this summer out there. North side of the Meadows last summer we were slaying them Frog fishing in water so choked no PB could ever go. In fact I couldn't believe the crap the bass were trying to get through to eat our frogs. Some so hungry they would hit multiple casts to the same spot over and over.
