I recently purchased a new Okuma Guide Select steelhead rod and Shimano Cardiff reel. I've landed three steelhead with it this year have had several hook-ups that ended in heartbreak.

Last Friday I hit the Russian again with my trusty rod. I ended up with a snag and I thought I'd just whip the rod a little to get the plug unstuck. Well........I ended up breaking off the rod tip, between the first and second guide. Man was I upset!

Since the Okuma rod had a lifetime warranty, KickinBass (Andy) offered to take it back to the Pro Shops to see if they would exchange it for a shiny new one. To my surprise, they did the exchange without question.

Now I can hit the river again. Oh happy me!

CHEERS!

Good to know they back their products.I know Seeker and Shakespeare/Ugly Stick do the same, but I haven't been able to break one yet (knock on wood). If manufacturers only knew the abuse we kayakfishermen put our equipment through... :smt002

Watch out on the Ugly Sticks, I've fished these most of my life and have always found them to be reliable. But last year I purchased an Ugly Stick Tiger and the warranty was a one year. I looked around and I did not see a new Ugly Stick with a lifetime guarantee. It is still a great rod but the lifetime guarantee really made it unbeatable in the past at least for the price.

Originally I got into fishing to fish.
