I spent 5 days fishing south end Clearlake before and after the 4th. The weather was sweltering and only fished from 6am to 11am. The fishing is pretty much is as hot as the weather if you fish deep on the rock piles and early am against the bank. Not much top water as I was trying some new flyfishing poppers  to no avail. Lots of 1 and 2 pounders with some 3 to 6 pounds to spice it up.
I fished both kayak and non kayak. We used mostly jigs and plastics deep.   my back seater with a nice 4 lber. Watch out for rattlesnake as the babies are starting to move around. Tight lines.

Nice! Thanks for the report.
There's always money in the banana stand.
