Anyone have any fishing suggestions for Pyramid Lake (NV)?  Most likely fishing from shore (mid June).  Recent Intel?  Locations?  Lures?  Techniques?  Etc...

Thanks for any Intel/suggestions.

Bill

Cutts will be deep now, harder to get from shore. I like fishing BLockhouse in the South because of the dropoff next too shore. Stop at Crosbys Lodge and pick up some spoons and chuck froom shore. Let it sink and then reel slow keeping close to the bottom. If you are fly fishing check in at reno fly shop. Are you camping?

May make the trip with some friends.  Their band is playing a private event at a campground.

Couple of notes from a trip out on Sunday (29May). Water temps were 63/64 degrees by noon:

The fish were still stacked up in the shallows, plenty of pods to be found. The spawn is over, and they're feeding aggressively. I trolled Rapalas along the shoreline and got at least 12 (lost count). The drop off is easy to follow, but most of my strikes came in 20 FOW or less. The weed growth is exploding, and will only get worse. If you're going to fish along the bottom, check your gear frequently.

There are big bait balls of tui chub out in about 40-50 feet of water, no marks under them yet...

It's supposed to hit 100 out here on Saturday. I suspect that as the surface warms up the fish will retreat back rapidly, but there should still be some in the shallows this weekend.

Good luck, and stay cool!

Hi Bill,
I live 15 mins from the lake and fish it a lot.
I troll the lake with spoons ,apex, castmasters(gold).
this time of year the fish are going deep.
they spawned in late April and the water skiers are starting to show up.

I fish it like trolling for salmon with a mid to small pink lady with a small flasher with a yellow with red spots spoon (large).
I  paddle the kayak at close to 2 mph.

with a new moon I have had up to 30 hook ups in about 1.5 hrs of fishing starting about 2 hrs b4 sunset.
first hour in the morning can be a red hot bite also.

a lot of fly fisherman from ladders all along the west shore of the lake.
I just fish from my kayak.

Wear your life jacket. Friend of mine in area has said that many power boats go missing or are found empty full of water. The speculation is that volcanic activity in area causes release of gas that makes the water unable to support a boat so they sink then  cold water kills the boaters in water, many have never been recovered. Or the Native American theory is dead baby souls will take you if you piss them off  while your in the water.
