Hola everyone, weather looks good...and better north. Should be at Pt Arena around 7:30am...yellow Outback. Rock fishing then dive around 11:00...then back to more fishing. Hope those fishing Duxbury do well, but already had this plan going north. Ron

Beautiful day at Pt. Arena. Low tide at arrival...about 7:30am...a minus 1ft tide. Small swell, maybe 4ft. NOAA's call was right. Started fishing about 8:30am...slow, threw everything at them....white swim baits, rootbeer scampies, larger swimbaits, all tipped with squid.  One 18 cabezon, one undersized ling, a few dropped off, one small black, one bust off in the rocks...not sure how big. Talked to two others on kayak at the bouy, they reported slow fishing also.
Peddled the Outback south and anchored in about 20ft. Maybe 20ft visibility, with a good swell. Popped three good abalone, all over nine inches, one was just a tick shy of 10 inches. Fished a bit more, back drinking beer a the car by 2:30pm. Sun was out, shirt was off...excellent day, Ron

PS..if picture does not make it I will try again

how deep was the dive to get those abs? i'm newbie and still learning and know the high risk involved with this sport.

I dove maybe 15ft to 30ft. You can start out at 5ft to 15ft and still tear them up. Tons of places that are protected...maybe just a hard hike to get to the better spots. Hope that helps, Ron

Thanks Ron for the respond. Until i get more comfortable and dives under my belt, 10 is my max. it's just not many minus tide to go rock pickings.
