JasonB pointed this out to me...

99.9% sure you can't shoot LMB...unless I am wrong on the regs (always possible since I have never speared in FW) this makes all spearos look bad.

A several years ago a couple dopes posted a picture of themselves spearfishing in what is easily identifiable as a pool in the Bitterroot River above the Highway 93 Bridge in Missoula, Montana.  See . They included their names, pictures of themselves spearing various kinds of fish, and pictures of themselves holding speared fish.  However, the only place in Montana's western fishing district where you can spearfish is in the Clearwater River Drainage, and only for pike. Oops.  I pointed out that they were violating the fishing regulations, but they apparently were not able to get the video off the internet, or were too lazy to take it off the internet.  Despite the fact that it provided indisputable proof of violation of fishing regulations.

The spearfishing regulations are a bit more liberal in Montana's central fishing district, and a lot more liberal in Montana's eastern fishing district.
