There is this one too. I like the one piece over the 2 piece Yak Attack. The YA is good though too. YA is also cheaper in the long run.

I've set up a downrigger on my kayak.  I want it on my left, with the rod on a ram mount on a gear track on my right.  THe problem is when the downrigger pulls on the rod, it torques the ram ball and unscrews the ball, moving the rod.

Can anybody think of a quick fix?

The thing I'd like is a bolt with a left hand thread, but I haven't found such an animal.  WIth a left hand thread the torque would simply tighten down, so it would not move so long as I had it already sufficiently torqued down.

This problem also happens when I run a rod without the downrigger.  If I run it off the left side across the yak, it's fine.  Again, it just torques the bolt tighter and isn't an issue.  I don't want to set up my rod on that way though, I want to run it the other way.

DO you guys have any ideas?
both of these would work.  the second link is how i do my left hand side rod holders on track, which would be transitive to your issue.

honestly though, i didn't like the first option much. I have one that i haven't used in a while.  I just find the ram mounts aren't working as well as I would like them to.

That first one seems like it solves the problem.  What didn't you like about it?  Or what is the function problem with ram mounts that you are running in to?

The second is how I attach my scotty DR.
The mighty bolt is fine, but the little button on the mount doesn't stick well to the track, so it gets misaligned.  I wish they made the button just a smidge longer.

I also tried the ram ratcheting mount that has one bolt and two little nubs. That one failed and dropped into the water with a rod holder in tow.

One of the main issues with the DR on the right is the paddle is on the right. There is no option to put the paddle on the left in the 2015 revo because the rudder handle position was improved at the cost of not being able to store the paddle on the left. I don't want to obstruct access to the paddle at all, seems like a really bad idea.

What's this???    They put the steering handle in an " intuitive" position?     And it obstructs ?     Hmmmmmm :smt005

The two piece is pretty bombproof with 4 attachment points to your scotty base.  Cost isn't that much different to be overly concerned with it.  After sleeping on it I'm ready to start mass producing LH gearheads and screwballs.  It's a better mousetrap.  Make them different colors to easily distinguish from standard threads, place them on the yak according to expected torque direction, done and done and for a fraction of the cost of these more elaborate mounting opptions.

STill use the heavy duty mounting for the DR I think is obvious.  I have the two point mighty mount adapter and I put the backing plate on the rail iteslf.  I'd want a crab puller to be similarly heavy duty.  But a trolling rod attached to the downrigger or trooching with an 8oz banana weight?  It's unnecessary.

Doug find me at shelter and I'll let you borrow the #1 ball mount to see if you like it before you spend the cash.  Its already in my car and I won't likely be using it.

That would be awesome, thanks.

This one is a tandem version:

Although I want the fishfinder on the left so I can watch the fish finder and rod tip on the same side, but something else could easily mount there instead.  If I like your I might look at getting this one.  We'll see.

It’s easy to make a base for a Scotty locking deck mount which goes in a gear track, and which will hold a trolling rod in a fixed position.  See http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=13167.msg144750#msg144750 .  This kind of base avoids the twisting problems with Scotty Gearhead bases and Ram mounts.
