I will be up in the area soon and wondering how Dungeness is doing and if Rock will be open soon. What areas can I fish while waiting for crab pots to fill? All help most appreciated.

I can't help you with crabbing Intel as I haven't gone crabbing since it opened. But I can tell you where NOT to fish. One is the MLPA zone and the other on the shallow reef on the way to Mavericks. That area can be flat as a pancake then next thing you know there'd be HUGE set of rollers. Most people opt towards the southern buoy (green can)

Crabbing in HMB has been tough and small.  That's why you don't hear much.  We had one day with 8/person.  But mostly tough pickings.  Perhaps that explains the quiet silence.

I went crabbing on May8 Sunday. Swell was tough (~ 5-8 ft). I dropped 2 traps at ~9:00am and back to inner harbor for waiting. 1.5hrs later caught more than 10 dungeness and more than 5 rock. brought home only 6 big male dungeness for lunch + beer. Bait was chicken drum stick, ~$12 for 6 pacs at Costco. 1 pac contains 5 drum sticks. 1 pac was enough for 2 traps. I am planning this Sunday if Swell is ok.
