Just bought an Elite-4 HDI unit on sale with Nautic Pro V-15 charts.  Was told by WestMarine and Lawrence that the maps showed the MPA's and MLPA's.  Were not on V-15 SD, so they replaced it with V-16.  All I can see is a very faint blue dashed line with no label.  Very hard to use for reference.  Is this the only depiction on the charts, or should they be brighter, and have a contrasting color with some cross hatching showing their area?  It is pretty useless the way it is.

I believe what you are describing is correct.  You toggle over the line & you can find out info but the info is minimal.  Seems to be true of navionics & c-map chips as well but I haven't spent a lot of time looking into those features

Is there a way to edit the  charts  and draw in over the MPA lines permanently to make them more distinct? On my old Garmin Blue Charts, a NCCA member edited them onto the charts and posted them here, though I don't know how he did it. They did not interfere with normal navigation functions, so it was not a route.

At the least you can save waypoints to help show where the line is.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan
