Got the chance to hunt a couple of private ranches near Redding.  First ranch was barren of pigs.  Second ranch had pig sign all over as soon as we got out of the truck.  Saw one at about 80 yards and dropped him.  We heard more but they were in a thick blackberry patch and would not come out.  Taking only one was probably a good thing since the fourwheeler crapped out the night before and we had to haul it out on a stick.

Sweet. Perfect size for eating! Even better for hauling out on a stick. Randall

Very nice... and as Bigfoot said..."perfect size for eating"
I envy you.  I'm still looking for a hook-up on private land.  Public areas are such a long shot since pigs quickly move out of areas with hunting pressure.

Nice hog.  I used to carry them out with sticks and rope but now I have a pack frame.  I wouldn't leave home without it.  It is from Bullpac in Idaho and it absolutely ROCKS.  I have carried half an elk on it.  I would highly recommend it.

Now that's funny right there.  I don't care who you are.

I barbequed the loin and tenderloin the other night.  Just about brought tears to my eyes it was so good.  The rest is going to be made into sausage and pepperoni.  I know Tri-Way Freezer will make it for me.  Anyone know of any other meat processors that makes good sausage?
