The Dicky Bird it's for sale. My friend passed away last season and the family needs to unload the boat. It's dropped from 40k to 10k WITH COMMERCIAL SALMON PERMIT.
The permit itself is worth that. The hydraulic gear and rigging is worth that. She'll probably need a haul out.probably cost around 3k.
Detroit diesel is strong. Economical boat. I'm guessing 1 to 2 gph.

Great deal! If I was a little younger, I would be all over this! I hope someone capitalizes on the opportunity and makes a go of it.

When I get older and retire my dream is to be a commercial fisherman! I would have been all over this.
Thanks for the heads up.

Commercial salmon fishing does not have a bright future. Boat and permit prices reflect that. Even a 10 K investment might be hard to recoup. Add to that initial cost year round slip fees and haul out expenses and it will be tough to break even in shortened commercial seasons.

Ha ha! Realism. You of all people on this board know better than I that realism has absolutely no place in any discussion about possible endeavors into commercial salmon trolling in California.

The near future for Salmon fishing may be lean but I believe they will rebound.

The guy that owned it had a deeper nearshore permit which helped make it work. You would have to diversify by taking advantage of open access fisheries, or be a semi/retired summertime commercial salmon fisherman.

Basically it'll cost 15 to 20k$ to go salmon fishing. Season starts in 4 days.

As the previous (cured) owner of several large wooden boats, I have one word of advice although it is actually a contraction: DON'T
