Quick intro - looks like I registered a couple years ago, but never bothered to post in the intro section...

As mentioned in the subject, mostly just visiting your forum - have lurked off and on over the past couple of years.  I'm from Lake Oswego, OR, and enjoy fishing out of my Hobies - an Oasis and an Outback.  Over the past few years, I've had various success for Trout, Bass, Sturgeon, Salmon, Rockfish, Lingcod, and Crab.

My big reason for actually posting and being able to take part in more of the forum here...  my son is a freshman at CSU Monterey Bay.  I've been down there a handful of times and love the area - will be looking for some information on possibly kayaking and/or fishing the bay and ???.

Great that we have these two sites, and see there is plenty of cross sharing of between the two regions.

Thanks,
Sam

Welcome Sam!!

Lot of down here in the Monterey Bay area and plenty of fishing/diving/paddling opportunities as well.

Post up when you are coming down, or if your son needs someone to fish with, and I am sure you will find plenty of us willing to help.

Sincerely,

Jim

Thanks guys - Jim, really like your trip reports on NWKA.  Pretty amazing down under the water, though I think I'm perfectly fine fishing from the surface!

I was hoping my son would have some time during the school year to get out on the water some - but very happy with his adjustment to school down there.  Will let him know that there might be some opportunities by checking with folks here going forward...

Thanks again!

-Sam

Welcome! Monterey is beautiful, even in the fog. BTW, I usually leave my tandem kayak at a buddy's place in Sand City. I mostly spearfish, but would like to learn more about catching fish from the yak, maybe we can connect when you come down. I live up in the Bay Area so need a bit of advance notice . Warren

Thanks Warren.  Haven't experienced the fog there, weather has been nice every time we've been down.  My son has enjoyed bragging about the weather on occasion, though I did hear some complaints about high 80s and being too warm a week or so ago!

Welcome aboard Sam!

Thanks!  And thanks to CSU for the WUE rate - tuition is about the same as we'd be paying for the state school here in Oregon!
