On Saturday (Memorial Day Weekend) I need to be in Monterey for an early outrigger race on Sunday morning. Normally I'd park my VW camper on a quiet residential street and call it a night - but my GF might come with and she gets creeped out about over-nighting in unsanctioned spots and the potential for ax murdering vacationers coming in through the windows.

Any recommendations for a private campground or other ideas on a holiday weekend?

Thanks! Ross

I've never been here but just thought I'd throw it out for your consideration, on the North side of the town of Marina

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! Looks kinda bleak, will check these places out.

Find a WalMart.

Unfortunately California isn't Walmart camper friendly - the Walmarts I've checked out lately say they frown on overnighters b/c of a California law.

They will be checking :smt012 If you go out to moss landing. I've found you don't get bothered much in that area. Find a quiet spot but be prepared to move if asked.... Popping the top up is a dead giveaway...
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

My new plan on that is to carry forsale signs. Slap one on each side "Camper For Sale" with a local number and park on a busy intersection = perfect explanation for the popped top and parked overnight!  :smt044

Unfortunately the little lady thinks this is all too contrived and likes the Sheraton mo' better  :smt012

did you check marina walmart?  I was in the area a couple weeks ago and there were at least two trailers parked there at 11pm.
