Outback Rectangle Hatch Install Video

Install of the Rectangle Hatch on the 2016 Hobie Outback. Pretty sure you can do this mod on all the outbacks dating all the way back to 2012-13 check before you order the parts.

I just did this on a 2015 Outback. 

I LOVE the upgrade.  The best part is the hatch is ACTUALLY waterproof!  The seal and lock design is WAY better than the 8" round hatches.

I can't say whether it fits or not on older Outbacks...  But I am happy I did it!

nicely done. Outbacks Center hatch has always been poorly configurated with not quite enough room. do you think you lost any structural integrity in the process ?

No.  The Hatch seems more rigid and stronger than the normal deck.  Structural integrity is also provided by the foam blocks, and none of them needed to be moved for this install.

Still works with the older kayaks as well.

I did it in my 2013 Outback as well as my 2014 Outback.

i just got my rectangle hatch in however no seal or screws

I ordered it through amazon thinking it comes with seal and screws, NOPE. Its just the hatch.

For those ordering, make sure it include the seal and screws. The screws are a separate item unless its package into it. Not sure why hobie would do that, it should come with everything needed to install. Now I have to wait for the seal and screws to come in before installing. Bummer.
