Ocean Salmon Fishing in Fort Bragg?

Anyone know if it will be worth giving salmon a shot up in Fort Bragg area this weekend? I think salmon opens April 2 and was hoping to fish for something during our ab trip. Staying at Van Damme.

Won't know until it opens where they are or if they are biting.  Usually really deep around opener so please let us know if you get any.

Definitely post a report. We will be at Albion from Sat to Sat; starting this coming Sat. I'll go on a charter if necessary. We will probably dive VD once or twice next week. We will be in a green inflatable, launching from the beach.

Salmon fishermen are creatures of habit who follow the fleet to the same areas year after year. The fact that there aren't many Fort Bragg reports from early in the season certainly doesn't mean there aren't salmon in the area.

I say give it a shot! Worst that can happen is you get some good exercise and you're in better trolling shape the next time you try.

I'm sure we will dive VD one of the days (this Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). We have some other spots we like to hit as well. I was thinking of a charter out of noyo possibly. Not sure if one of our group is bringing his zodiak, but Im in a green outback and my buddy is in a red ocean drifter.

Yep, Im with a group that has 6-7 divers. Might see you Friday at VD! Might hit russian gulch as well.
