First thing... Sorry to those I told Hobie would be having a Free Demo day.... Apparently you had to pay $20.00 to get out and play. I won't be having them come again to any event I plan. Considering a Rollins Do over event at a better time and NOT at greenhorn. (had a problem with staff there that = near incarceration, sun morn) There were some crappie caught. Erics brown was epic! The chill was Awesome and Tony's frier worked great!! Frog legs for all!!!! Will post pictures tonight or in the morning when I find the camera. 12.75 was the largest Crappie found this time. He is still out there.... Wait till you see the red ear I got!  :smt003
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Thanks for having the event. Made a quick day trip to Rollins. Fished for 4 hours and caught 1 holdover trout, 1 11" crappie with fresh talon marks, and some small bass. All on a small perch rapala with garlic scent.

The demo event was fun and no one mentioned the $20 fee but just had my group sign waivers. The Eclipse is innovative but I didn't like having to keep the steering under tension. The i11 was fast, stable even with the seat in the high position, a huge improvement over my old i9, and with practice I bet you could stand and fish.

Wow!  sounds like a wild time Sunday morning.  Can't wait to hear the whole story.  Congrats and all the fish that were caught.

I kinda exploded on the guy. Probably shouldn't have. He came by and ooogled my wife driving real slow looking straight at her. Then he saw me :smt093    jekyll and hyde flare up    :beer1     Then the devil came out  :smt096 :smt076 :smt097 :smt079 :smt083 He drove off quick. went out the gate and didn't see him again when we left... Scared myself a bit and glad he ran instead of stayed.  Going to get my money back tuesday so jail is still not out of the Question :smt002

Good times at Rollins!

Guess I missed all the fireworks, as I fished all day Sat. didn't demo any Hobies (although I kinda wanted to try that stair stepper SUP :smt003) - took a nice break after slaying some 10" spots, crappie and smaller bluegills and red ears to play Uke and sing with the musical Weimarian clan (thanks ladies, always a pleasure)
Food was aplenty, with the legendary cobbler to top it all off.

I've fished Rollins 3 times, and each was a slayfest, the water is nice and clean, the grounds are not trashy, and I wouldn't hesitate to eat the fish outta there.

Got in a lot of good fly casting practice and even scored an upgrade crappie, so all is/was good with me.
Sorry not everyone had as much fun as I did :smt005

Thanks to all that made this happen! :smt001

I'm taking the family up there (to the Peninsula Campground though) this weekend, anyone mind laying some education on me? I've never really fished the place seriously, but I'm going to fish the hell out of it Sat, Sunday and maybe Monday. :smt003

I love Peninsula, we discovered it two years ago, and now almost don't go anywhere else. I've already got two weekends booked there in the next two months <LOL>

It's a solid drive through some windy roads to get there, and there are only about a dozen campsites that are actually ON the water (#'s 44-55,) though 2-3 of the sites are "group" sites, and you can pack 8 folks to a site.

The Day Use Area with the boat ramp is large enough to host an event, it has a big grassy area next to a large parking lot, but not nearly as nicely maintained as Orchard Springs Day Use Area.

I took the family there in late August last year, there were only two families in the entire campsite, and the only thing we didn't like, was an unafraid-of-humans scavenging skunk who wouldn't leave our campsite.. I had placed those $1 walmart solar landscape lights around the camp, I wake up in my tent to see the shadow-silhouette of the skunk walking by about 10" from my head...

Sad final post on Greenhorn campground. After the problems experienced by Carrie (Dude hassling her and looking at her Boobs when talking to her, Creeper style) I'm writing them off, Owner Mike, basically told me he didn't care and that Carrie made it all up... Going to work with NID to put together an event possibly next year (or later this year) using Peninsula campground, cheaper camping! same fishing area as greenhorn The other plus is, you can also access the other side of Rollins too! Stay tuned and don't take your family to greenhorn unless you keep your ladyfolk with you. (Even gate gal uneasy with the guy that was hassling Carrie) Thanks all that joined us to play.
