Radio Channels

I recently ordered a new marine radio. I have noticed that several people will post that they will be listening to channel 69 when they are fishing.

My question is this; is channel 69 the standard kayak fishing channel? I know from living in Fort Bragg that the party boats were using channel 10 to talk back and forth, but that channel is listed as a "com'l" channel (what ever that means).

So what are the channels that everyone is using? Maybe this has already been discussed, or maybe not.

69 is the standard channel. I think Mooch "standardized" it.
