Anyone else use one (Or more) to protect their electronics?  I learned about them in the mid 90's.  I've been using a small one (Maybe 700W) to protect the cable box and TV, and have small lamp plugged in as well since 2007.
As often as we loose power in Felton, who know's when a power surge may come down the lines.  My little UPS will absorb it, and prevent TV from getting damaged!
I'm replacing the batteries in it when I get home today (Power dropped again  today at home for about 15 min) and eventually I'll wire in a larger marine deep cycle battery to help extend its operation during power outage.

I do.  Been using em for the past 10 years.  Its not only great for protection, you can continue to watch TV for a little bit after power goes out.   :smt044

A very timely topic... I live up the hill from Lexington Reservoir, and we lose power all the time. I've got a standby generator, and surge protectors, but was just thinking about adding a UPS (specifically for electronics and pellet stove). I haven't looked around much yet. Are there any particular brand(s) that anybody would recommend, preferably something that won't break the bank?

I use them in all my office for all network devices, firewalls, WIFI, etc.  The have home versions that are pretty cheap on amazon. Just remember the batteries have a shelf life and you need to make sure you do not exceed the BTU load of the device or you will render it useless.

They are a must have in my line of work..

Long power outtage after today's storm.  All of Aptos was down.

Can't say how many times they've saved my files...

Cyberpower unit over here.  Pure sine wave output feeding the home recording studio gear.
Nice bonus is it's got a couple USB ports for phone/tablet charging. It's only come in necessary totally once, but that's pretty much enough.

Also have the home networking gear on it which is a small enough draw that it can run a long time to still be able to use laptops for netflix while the power's out.  You know, instead of actually talking to the other people in the house. Can't have that.

We use a lot of them at work along with auto switching generators for servers, switches and telecom.

I live in the forest, outages are expected. I use surge protectors for the electronics at home, but not a UPS.

When the AC goes down here it's typically one of two ways: fairly quick off/on or extended. I don't really need to have a 20 min extender source.

The $ is better spent on fishing/diving gear, IMO.

My little APC  brand 1500 has new batteries now, I've had to remove batteries of similar sized UPS 's from tools I've removed and had to basically take them apart to get to the batteries, not my ABC it has a battery hatch that simply snaps in!
Haven't tested it's run time yet, powers been holding for this series of storms so far (Fingers crossed it stay on)
I seem to recall I paid around $150 for it (Fry maybe) when I got it many years ago.
