On my list of upgrades and issues is that my work space isnt very stealthy. When Im creeping through the shallows and tullies I want to be totally silent, but any time I need to switch lures or make any other fix the hull will be somehow tapped or scratched thus announcing my arrival.
Another issue is due to the fact that I chose a very dark color of kayak.  During the summer the deck gets extremely hot and can be uncomfortable on bare feet.
So I started looking at some sort of floor covering too damping noise and increase my comfort.
I considered a neoprene sheet gooped to the floor but it would get shreaded by hooks and is black.
I also considered astroturf and even a thin sheet of mini-cel foam, but then decided to go with a bath mat so that I could have the advantage of drainage.  I wasnt able to find a mat large enough so I had to cut 3 separate peices then sewed them together with f-line, not ideal but I had no choice.
The mat has suction cups on the bottom that wont stick to the yak but I may dab goop in the cups to attach it.  How easy is goop to remove?
Something is holding me back though. Seems like there must be a better way.
So I thought I would put it into  the kayak think tank and see if someone has some helpful advise before I start squeezing goop or not.

I don't want to urge you one way or the other...I'll let others do that, but I will say that goop is pretty easy to remove.  I just heat it with a hair dryer until it becomes malleable and then wiggle or pry until whatever was stuck comes loose.

My big burly dog doesn't like it when his "privates" get wet when he sits on my Wilderness Systems The Ride or when he slides on the plastic.  I've resorted to using the scupper plug for him but also bought a piece of light-colored indoor/outdoor carpeting that I cut to fit in the boat for traction.  Mind you, I haven't glued the carpet down yet, but I thought it would be suitable because it can be hosed down with the boat and cuts down on another loose item to remember to bring.

looks like a comfy ride! Sure it'll help a lot on those hot days.
Cool idea!~ And the Goop will come off pretty easily.

If you are really concerned about the goop use a silicone (marine or otherwise), it will hold just fine and peel off nicely later without any hassle.

thanks for the goop/silicone knowledge. It will probably be the route I take after I cut the scupper holes.  I hope to have it stuck and be able to handle a power washing yet still be able to remove it if needed.
But Im still surfing to find a similiar rubber product in a roll and sold by the foot so that I can cut a piece to fit.  If it feels like fishing in a lounge, I know that she will want her yak matted too.

Instead of goop in the suction cups, how about using velcro in key places to attach the mat? If you gooped velcro down in just a few key places on your kayak, and glued the velcro to the underside of your bath mats, the mats would be easily removable for cleaning. Also, I would imagine it would require goop in fewer places on your kayak. In fact, you could probably even sew velcro to the mat instead of gluing it.
