commonly referred to as abalone guts. has anybody heard of storing and freezing them in in a mustard Brian concoction ? old-timer told me it's excellent Cabazone bait. I always thought of it is masking the scent. but it's always been a producer

I've heard of salt brining them, never mustard.

A hunk of ab gut on a hook is like a Chocolate Eclair to a Cabezon.

Bait??  That's some good stuff.  In Japanese cooking they use it for a seasoning, a little bitter. Tried before it ain't that good.

We got second place at last years Mendo world champ ab cookoff (technically first place, at the last minute after being announced world champs they gave the award to the shop that sponsored the event)  with a recipie using ab guts.

If you didnt like it, maybe it wasnt done right, tasted pretty bomb.com to me and about 300 others  :smt002 :smt002 :smt002

after thinking about it a little bit and the day of ice block coin operated vending machines on many corners in San Jose and Santa Cruz long gone.
the mustard might have played a big role in preserving the abalone guts as the mustard has a high concentration of vinegar and equivalent to pickling the horns
in today's day and age everybody's got a freezer in their motor home or trailer. the mustard still has a pleasant aroma and you can lick your fingers afterwards
