Yes the boats are gill netting,alot of the boats were about 20 yards from shore all stack up on each other.these are commercial fisherman

How long do you think the herring will stick around?  I've always wanted to try but never really had any detail as to their season.

I was there 3:30 pm till after 5 PM.  Never got my net out.  Rocks were covered in roe.  Seagulls working the eggs with the cormorants mostly congregated offshore a ways.  Paradise rocks also covered in roe so the herring were there also this am.   No fish sighted and the one lone guy with a cast net had zero.

Herring roe is great bait for sturgeon.
