I had good luck with the marine silicone (Goop) at first. Then it started acting up.

If your curious why, Google search "GOOP bubble transducer".

As GOOP cures, bubbles form in it. Some people don't have any problems, other people do. Luck of the draw, I guess....

Interesting. I hadn't thought of bubbles forming in the silicone. I tried to smash as much out from between the hull as possible to eliminate any bubbles from applying it. I left a few boxes of .30-06 on top of it overnight while it cured to prevent any creep up from happening. Thanks for pointer. If it starts acting up that is where I will begin to trouble shoot.

I was in the same boat with BMAC and looking at the Elite-4 at West Marine for $200.  However, the search on Amazon for ELITE4 CHIRP with navionics turns up this for $326...

If a link for the Amazon one for $254 is available, I would greatly appreciate it.

Im trying to find it on my phone but missing it. I'll try to get back later on a computer. For now, here is the same model at $259+small ship fee. Still significantly cheaper

How about going direct to that seller...

It's $237 + $10 shipping -$50 rebate... very tempting, but the site looks hella shady... Might have to go get a prepaid visa....

I'm seeing that part number as 000-11807-001

That is a different set up. I believe that might be a non GPS model...? and consequently no navionics+ maps too.

Sounds like a plan. Good luck!

At the Gander Mountain site (http://www.gandermountain.com/), I found the Elite 4 CHIRP with Lake Insight Pro map and a sun cover for $274 (Item # 885007).  Free shipping and still eligible for $50 rebate.  Very tempting...
