I'm interested in going to lake Orville for the first time to go for salmon. Can anyone recommend a campground on that lake that's close to a good launch/fishing location?  Any tips appreciated.

The campground suituation at Lake Oroville isn't ideal for kayaking to say the least.  You have to remember Lake Oroville is set up for houseboating not camping.  The campsites are usually a long ways from the water, especially now.  No matter what campsite you stay at, you won't be camping on the water or walking your kayak down on Wheeleez.  You'll be driving to the launch ramp.  That being said, Loafer Creek or Bidwell is probably the best option for camping.  Personally, Loafer Creek is the nicer of the two campsites, but Bidwell has the launch that is closer to the main body of the lake, shorter paddle.  I'm not sure where they are getting the salmon at but usually they do well in the main body of the lake and those two campgrounds would be closest.  There is also camping on the north side of the the lake at Lime Saddle but no water access from the campground.

Good luck!  Be sure to post up your results!

Thank you both for the advice. I think I'll give bidwell a try first.
