Just joined you all.  Thank you for the opportunity to learn from your experience.

Kayak: Hobie Mirage Outback (first Kayak ever)  Haven't even gotten it wet yet.  Looking forward to rigging it after I learn more.

Goals: 1) Troll Tahoe/Berryessa/??? for Trout/Salmon, 2) Offshore Rockfishing, 3) Polespear for Halibut

About Me:  40-ish outdoorsman. California native, but been away for 15 years in AZ, CO, and NY.  New to kayaking, but experienced at canoeing.  Not a great fisherman, but occasionally fish hook themselves for me.  I usually prefer fly-fishing for trout in backcountry streams but can't do that easy in San Mateo.  Got a kayak to take advantage of all the water here in CA, including Freshwater trolling, offshore rockfishing, and using the yak as a platform for diving and polespearing.  I'm mostly hungry to learn and to get new experiences, to get out there where the life gets real, keep it simple, keep it fun, keep it safe, and earn that beer at the end of the day.

Happy Holidays!

(Snakecharmer:  I picked up the handle from my first real job - catching rattlesnakes for ecological research!)
Fish laugh when I paddle by.  Sometimes they laugh so hard they fall on my hook.

:smt006 Welcome, Snakecharmer! First advice: Go with somebody, especially somebody who knows more than yourself. Read the safety postings on the forum first.
Warning! Retiree; Knows it all and has plenty of time to tell you about it.

Welcome!  As soon as they open Dungie season (if they do), I'm sure you'll meet quite a few of us out at Half Moon Bay.  Read up on 'yak crabbing... it will happen... it will happen.

Welcome to NCKA.  You are at the right place for all the things you plan on doing with the help of a kayak.  Have fun and be safe out there.
