Thank you! I might just keep this kayak then, at least for a while. That way I can spend my money on stuff to get out. So I can get out there sooner. I still need a pfd, radio, compass, net and of course the gps.

That's a better way to go.  You can fish without a FF, but not without a pfd or radio.  You can always just hook up with folks that have a FF and fish with them for the time being.

I don't plan on going out in the wind anyway.

Good plan, but one that is bound to fail on occasion...
I don't like stuff that sucks.

Good advice here!  Never plan on "I'm not going to paddle in wind".  That's the fastest way to get in real trouble.  Always plan for it & expect it.

Along with pfd & vhf, a ff/GPS becomes a piece of safety equipment and should be thought of it in that manner ... Especially on the ocean.  The fog can roll in fast and it may just save you.

I know I can't avoid wind totally but I do plan to minimize it.

I won't go out until I have a pfd and radio. I already have a gps; I use it for Geocaching.

I also need to look for a wet suit. Probably a farmer john. Any recommendations?
