Anyone own or lease one?  I'm curious about battery usage/distance and charging.  What is a typical range with the gas?, are most "Auto-on" when you touch the throttle?
Does the gas engine charge onboard batteries or is the charge only through regenerative braking? External cable?
I currently have a Ford Focus Electric (All electric vehicle) During summer months my car can have a battery charge for up to 90miles, typical is 85 miles (100% charge) on 120vac. Winter time, due to cold weather 75 to 83 miles. (Charging at Level 1,120Vac, the cars battery heaters do not run on the 120Vac, Level 2 ,240Vac, the cars battery heaters will operate then.) It does regenerative braking whenever my foot is off the throttle, and coasting but the charge from RB is very minimal.
When my current lease is up, my next lease will be a Hybrid so I'm curious how they work, which model might be better etc...

Thanks....

I've got a 14 prius v. First car I ever owned that gets better than advertised gas mileage. I'm getting about 47 on my daily commute which is half city stop and go and half highway speed.

Took it to Wy and back last summer and averaged a out 43 mpg. Mileage drops off after about 77mph, though that's still 350 mile range on the tiny ass little tank.
Prius uses gas engine with the battry supplementing, or full electric in stop and go. You only get like 12 miles in city though full electric.
I'd love to have a Volt if the body design was like a little station wagon. That's full electric, with a gas engine that charges the battery for extended range. Neighbor has one and he has to put stabil in the tank else the fuel goes bad as he only fills it once every other month!
