Chabot Tuesday, 1/23

Thanks to FishHunter's pics of large trout, there will be one less drone on the workforce tomorrow. I plan to get out there early, but we'll see.
Any hints on colors, coves, or some company is very welcome.

From the launch site head towards the dam then troll across the dam cove like Del Valle. Troll around the island which is 1/2 mile north of the launch on the way back then head east for LMB. The poorer the water clarity the farther offshore I would troll. I have had good luck with rapalas size 7 in rainbow and brook trout patterns at Chabot with brook trout producing slightly better. I am sure Adam has additional tips. Watch out for the shore anglers. They can be a tough crowd.

Thanks for the advice. I've got the Rapalas for the job, although during slow season, I bring everything from Powerbait to halibut rigs (not really). I bought a bag of treats from Hi's Tackle Box this afternoon, and will be out there playing with a new lure or two.
As far as shore fishermen go, I was caught in a line from the Capitola pier once last spring, and am not loking to repeat.
Any chance I'll see you out there tomorrow?

This is my first post.  I ran into a group of NCKA kayakers at Del valle on sunday. So I thought I'd check it out.

I think I'll be heading out to chabot tomorrow as well.   Try fishing Half moon bay, I have had great luck both in the bay as well as alder point.  My go to lure there is a firetiger broken back rap.  I usually topline this time of year about 100 pulls back w/ a slow speed of 2mph and under, but if the bite isn't on try speed trolling to cover more ground.  Spoons of all kinds are also a good bet.  I'd link a map, but I'm not quite sure how to do it.

Fishing should be ok, but not great.  Last I checked they should have put in 500lbs of lassen yesterday, so it might be pretty good.

Hope you guys got out and Hook'd something!

I put in many of trolled miles in three local lakes for the ONE landed at chabot.I KNOW THE FEELING WELL
on the day I was there,all the action was to the right of island to Racoon Point(pier).It got shallow after the point(4ft.) and along the tullie line back to the island.   
I too, witnessed hook-ups at each lake.
Dont give up!!

Post your report in "Fish Reports" even if you dont catch....that way if it was no good or saw fish getting hooked, it might be helpful to others.(IMO)
That place is nice when the wind is not and even if it is ti has a lot of hiding spots

Let me say this..... I know Scott "Great Bass 2" knows how to his stuff at Lake Chabot.  That's where I met first met him.  He was sleighing the trout and schooling Freddie and I.  Scott was gracious enough to even give me his favorite "trout killer" Rapala at the end of the day.... and I still have it!
