Going to be dedicating some serious time OTW this month to grab my first Sturgeon. San Pablo Bay is going to be my spot the 12th. Launching from McNears at 8 I'll be anchored on the water 9-4 on CH69.

pretty weak incoming tide until 12:30 a high tide. Outgo looks good. I'd bet 3pm is near perfect over there

I also want to put some serious time OTW this season. Sure would be nice to get a dino before the end of the year.
I'm not sure if I can do it this Saturday but if I can, I'll call you on the radio. Good luck

Just one of those days. Was going to go to the bay this weekend to try for Sturgeon but I couldn't find my Sturgeon tags the night before so I went to Donner for Mackinaw in the morning.  About 30 minutes into my drive and I realized that I had forgotten all of my electronics; fish finder, battery, and radio.  Launched at 7Am into 50 Meter fog and paddled the diagonal of the lake from the marina to the cove. Half way there realized I didn't bring any measuring devices with me.  Dropped down and hooked up to a small Mackinaw early but it got off after about 5 cranks. Braided line was freezing to the guides and I had to give it a tug whenever I wanted to let line out. No more action for the next 6 hours. Got of the water just as it started snowing, and explored around town. It's starting to get crowded in Truckee; all of the lunch places were packed.  Decided to head down the hill to get in-n-out in Auburn. Still would consider it to be a good day.

Ouch!  Fishing for macks without electronics is rough.  I totally hear you on the braid in cold weather: stuff SUCKS when temps drop below freezing.  That's why this winter, I'm rolling with two spools: one rigged with braid, the other with mono.  If the temps are below freezing on a given day, I'm sticking with the mono.  Braid just turns into a nightmare when it freezes.
