Whats that black looking putty you pasted on the bottom of the kayak. I am guessing it is there to limit abrasions due to dragging possibly????

   That is exactly what it is never any holes or leak repair on this kayak.

Yup. JB Weld

A few years back there was a lot of forum discussion on preventative measures. It was a very popular a few years back. Maybe they have better stuff now.
