One thing I hated since the contractors took over camping up in the mountains is that they close the campgrounds for the winter regardless of weather.  Most Crystal Basin camping will be closed by October 11th and many are closed already.  Wrench Creek, for example is already closed and has been for weeks.

But today I got an e-mail stating that Ranch Seco is open all winter for camping and has winter rates.  It's not a mountain lake, but it is as close to me as most mountain lakes are, so it will do for my camping/kayaking fix when the off season rolls around.

I just thought I'd pass that along.
