So I have gone clamming about 7 times now all on "clam beach" and it turns out I'm a crappy clamsman at least when it comes to razor clamming. Does anyone have and general areas where it's legal to calm in the bay either by car or kayak preferably car so I can take the kids. I'm tires of getting looks of disappointment from the family when I come home with a bounty of empty bucket. Thanks

King salmon has a couple spots.  Another kid friendly spot is the cove just after the CC station at the North jetty. Also you can try the campground right before the entrance to the North jetty

Best place for kids if you wanna stay clean, the little bay south of the coast guard station that has the little isolated chunk of jetty right in front of it. If you aren't proficient at eyeballing for cockles, bring a rake. Horsenecks are there, but not in numbers. Small butters occasionally.

Good for kids but be prepared to get your vehicle dirty on the way home, King Salmon. Everything is here and readily available at low tide.

How old are your kids?

Mine are 10 and 7 and I'd be happy to show you the ropes.  I love clamming.  We are coming up on that time of year where daylight significant minus tides are scarce.  Spring is best for frequent daylight low tides and late winter has some good afternoon low tides.

Razor clamming has a bit of a learning curve to it.  Horsenecks and martha washingtons are easy and easy once you know where to go.  I have a secret piddock spot.  I'm still looking for my first geoduck.

I'm almost always down to go play in the mud.

Right now my boys are 2 and 3 years old they follow me around the beach whIle I pull up wet sand and they just start digging in random spots. It cracks me up. I just want them to actually know what we're looking for. Lol

Hey crash thanks for that pdf map I went to buhne point in king salmon area and got my first one with my brothers kids. I think I was doing it wrong though I used a clam gun and mostly came up empty but the tide was only at a .8 for low tide buy the kids still had fun and it was a good place for the kids to wade in the water. If you ever want some company I would be more than happy to go with you. Thanks again
