Hello!  I'm a kayak angler from Missoula, Montana.  Kayak anglers are pretty scarce out here in Montana, so I've found your forum and the Northwest Kayak Anglers forum to be very educational.  I particularly like fishing for lake trout and kokanee and spearfishing for pike.  Although it's a long distance from Missoula to the coast, I've been trying to do some ocean fishing.

Hell yeah bro! I lived in the Bitterroot for about 6 years growing up and my family now lives in Bozeman. Good to know there's a few kayak anglers in Montana for when I move back. Where can you get on the water on a kayak in Montana? I'm guessing you're mostly fishing lakes. If you ever decide to head this way for some salt water action let me know, we'll find a way to get you on the water :smt006

I do most of my kayak angling in lakes in Western Montana from a 13’ Revolution, a lot of it with a downrigger, but I also do some fishing on multiday whitewater kayak trips.  For example, see http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=13913.0 and  http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=14090.0 .

I grew up in Bozeman (Go Cats!) but now live in Missoula (Go Griz!), so I have divided loyalties.

Hey pmmpete, thanks for all of the great downrigger mounting tips you've posted on NWKA. It definitely helped me to mount my DR on my Hobie Adventure.

Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

I loved the sporting goods store at the edge of town. I bought 4 BX-25 mags from there. I lived in Coeur'd Alene in the late 50's early 60's. We just sold a place close to Sand Point Id. Love it there except the winter sucks. The Schooling was better there first hand experience on that. By the way welcome to the board. Takes about 19 hrs from CDA ID come fish here on the big blue.

Never mind Pablito, he is weird....

I am from Philipsburg, will be up there in a few weeks bowhunting. Won't have my kayak, but will be doing some fishing too. Welcome to the madness!
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

Great to see a fellow Montanan on here. I'm from Bigfork and take my kayak back home when I visit the folks. Ive found it much more effective than a power boat, especially for Northerns and largemouth.
