So yesterday was my first yak fishing experience and my first time in the new Outback. Hooked up with two others at MBK and was on the water by 6:30. Took me a few minutes to figure out why I was zigging and zagging in the water and found that i needed to pull a bit harder on the rudder to make it drop.
After that was sorted out, we hit Cannery Row and started fishing.

I didn't bring any bait since I was using lures but wished I had some to tip with. The other two I was with hooked up on a nice 27" Ling and had limits on RF. I myself hooked up on two nice blacks just outside the kelp. We weren't planning an all day trip so we started back around 11am.

Although this wasn't the most successful trip in terms of catching fish, it was certainly a success in the fact that I got out of the house, on the water kayaking, caught some fish, and made it back safely. I now understand the lure of kayak fishing. Yesterday was probably one of the best days of fishing I have had in some time and I can't wait to get back out there.

Cheers!

LOL....I was telling myself the same thing this morning on the way to work.
My only excuse was that i was too focused on staying on top of the kayak and fishing to take photos.
I will certainly be taking photos on my next trip. Hoping to get out of work one morning to go fish but we shall see about that.

Sorry David, I didn't think to give you 1 squid. Was too focus on where I should drop a line. Tug and war with the kelps. this was the 2nd time I ran out of bait and I vow that will never happen again. The first time was just weeks ago. argh!!!

Glad to hear you had a great time on your first trip out in the ocean. I'm sure you'll have your fair share of catching lots of big fish on your next trip. :smt006

Where is MBK and Cannery Row?

I'm going to guess MBK is Monterey bay Kayaks on Del Monte? Not sure where cannery row is tho...

Thanks!
David

That's correct. Monterey Bay kayaks on del monte. Cannery row is basically in the water just in front of cannery row/monterey bay aquarium.

Pompano, thanks for the pics bro! It wasn't a dream, I actually was on the water haha.
