Lately I've been running two different kits (light and heavy)

The light setup is a spinning rig with 15lb braid FJ knotted to 15 mono.

The heavier setup is a baitcasting rig with 40lb braid FJ knotted to 20 mono.

30# braid, 20-25# leaders for rock/ling/hali, lighter leaders for other stuff xcept sturgeon then a 60# mono leader, all based on whats strong enough but still easy to break off if need be.

steel leaders for shark, probably not needed unless I hook a sevengill (somewhat likely) or a thresher (very unlikely) (for me).

Braid is really prone to abrasion so keep an eye on it.

65lb braid with a 30-50lb floro leader. I like the floro! It holds up well and does not stretch as much as mono. My .02 cent worth
