Dramamean for some reason makes me hallucinate.  I don't mess with that crap anymore.  Ginger root works, but I'll still get sick some Days that are too choppy.  I just learned not to eat before or durning a trip, no matter how good the conditions are.

I never eat before fishing either.  If I know there is a mixed swell or I'm fishing in an area that I know is a washing machine with refracted waves then I take meclazine.  Also drink some water to stay hydrated and have something for chum so I'm not dry heaving.

I found carbonated water makes it so that if I do lose my lunch, I can keep fishing.  No carb water and I'm done!

Looks like there are several options and I will pass it along to my buddies. I do have a relief band device and i'll let him try that to see if that works.
it's fun to get out there with a group but it can also be disappointing if 1 person gets sick. cut the whole trip short for everyone. Last trip 1 person got sick and I really had to work hard for my limits.

I used to use the scopamine patch, but ran out and didn't have time to get more. I found myself at the local pharmacy reading the packaging on different motion sickness meds. I learned that regular Dramamine and chewable Dramamine have 2 different active ingredients.

Now when I plan on fishing I take 1 regular Dramamine the night before and a second about 2 hours before getting on the water. I then take a chewable Dramamine around 1 hour before getting on the water. SO far it has worked just as well as the patch, and I've been out in some stomach churning conditions!

Cannabis may help, however there are a few other side effects :).

I tried just about every over-the-counter tablets/bracelets/etc. for sea sickness.  Either I had to overdoes to the point of falling asleep or not effective at all.  I can't count how many times I turned green/purple while leaning over the rail.

Finally, I got the prescription for the ear patch (SCOPOLAMINE) and I have been able to enjoy hours of bobbling out on my kayaking and diving.  Key is to put it on the night before.  It does give me dry mouth but no other real side effect.  My wife tried it once and she complained about being drowsy.  I guess it depends on the person.

Depending on your insurance, you may have to pay anywhere from $30 to $80 for a box of four patches.

Scopolamine patch for sure.  Just go to the doctor and have them write a prescription that you can refill multiple times.  Worth the money.

If you are on the water and you are green and blue and you would like a break from sickness ,,,get in the water and your equilibrium should  level out ....not saying you will not get sick once you get back on boat ...I have had it go both ways , sometimes i felt fine after sometimes i got twice as sick... now that I do not drink alcohol it hardly ever happens ..

Whenever I feel it coming on I will stop fishing for a little bit. I just start paddling and looking up at the horizon. It takes the edge off. I do take pills most times out because when I started kayak fishing I would feel sick in rough water. I never got sea sick before in power boats. A couple weeks ago I went out and realized I left my pills spat home. I figured I would fish till I could not. To my surprise I never felt queezy at all. Maybe my body is back to how it used to be.

I had plenty of days of sea sickness when I first started. When it comes on it's usually when I am tying a rig, clearing a birds nest, or digging around in my hatch or something.  When I start to feel it I try taking off my hat and sunglasses then having a drink of water.  Paddling helps too, so I reel up and paddle around a little bit.   But keep on going and it gets less and less each time you go out.  Now I hardly ever feel ill, and take nothing for it anymore.

For me it gets better and better every time. BTW, I appreciate advice on carbonated water - I feel it helped too.

I tell the wife sex before fishing helps. She says "take a barf bag". I think some of it is mental. On a PB as long as I stay on deck I'm good if I go inside the cabin it is all over. I've only been sick on my yak once. The horizon trick seems to work very well.
