I made a run through Pacifica today and kept seeing large silvery fish break the surface at around 60 FOW. A guy I passed said they were striped bass most likely. They would jump one after another maybe five or so fish coming out of the water. Looked to be in the 20-30 inch range or bigger (hard to gauge the size of a jumper 100 feet away).

Any-hoo, how the hell do I catch these guys?

Top water plugs
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I better get some of those then. FYI I launched at the nor cal surf shop in Pacifica and headed straight out hugging the south bank (bordering shelter cove) past the rocks to 58 FOW give or take. once an hour or so they would do their jumping thing 100' out from me. My swim bait didn't do anything for them.

Might also be some salmon. They usually catch them by the pier at this time

I can't recall one time I've seen a striper jump. Even when busting bait but they will swirl the surface. My guess would be salmon.

Word on the street is that the boats that were 3-4 miles out were killing it on the salmon. Unfortunately I don't know how to fish for salmon and am far to lazy to paddle out there to try.

Yeah they jump.but only when they miss my plug.but most of the time they bust the surface at bait but won't launch out of the water.
