Cleaning new lures

Does anyone clean their new lures? The reason I ask is I picked up some big hammer swimbaits today and noticed that they seemed really slimy and had a strong plastic/chemical smell. I realize that this is from the manufacture of the lures so I wasn't too worried about it.

I got home and decided I was going to wash my new lures. Warm water and some dish soap made them nice and clean. Then into a ziplock bag with some scent until I use them!

So am I crazy? Does anyone else do this? Thoughts?

Well I did buy them from you! Actually I didn't see you there, but it was busy inside today.
